We don’t know what to say here. We all feel pretty helpless. The people at UNICEF seem to know how to help the kids in Ukraine, Gaza & Armenia (amongst, sadly, many other countries). Donate to UNICEF by clicking through this big box here. We’ll be updating our games this year but not much else, sorry.

Gilda Pintxos

Gilda Pintxos from Basco Fine Foods

The Gilda Pintxo is a traditional Basque treat typically served with pre-dinner drinks. Pickled guindilla peppers, salt-cured anchovy fillets and green olives are held together with toothpicks, providing a salty and spicy bite to excite your tastebuds.

We love most foods that come on sticks. This is no exception.

According to legend, the ‘Gilda’ Pintxo was invented by a bartender in San Sebastian who was a big fan of Rita Hayworth and her performance in the film of the same name. The combination of flavours is said to represent the fiery, complex character of Gilda herself.

These are very easy to make but the execution definitely depends on the quality of the ingredients.

The recipes don’t differ much here. Err. But the recommended ingredients definitely come at different price points. Basco sell authentic Spanish foods, and link to items where possible in their recipes.

Another shop with links to buy the ingredients – these are a little easier on the wallet.
