We don’t know what to say here. We all feel pretty helpless. The people at UNICEF seem to know how to help the kids in Ukraine, Gaza & Armenia (amongst, sadly, many other countries). Donate to UNICEF by clicking through this big box here. We’ll be updating our games this year but not much else, sorry.

Cheese & pickle twists

Cheese & pickle straws
The cheese & pickle combo is an obvious favourite in the United Kingdom. These pastry twists are super scrumptious and very easy to make. Whip up a huge batch before your party and serve with a range of condiments – but make sure you have a big supply of HP brown sauce.

WE MADE THIS!

Recipe originally published 10/04/2016

We love a simple party food option. These are great for munching on between songs – they’re very more-ish. We like to fill pint glasses with Cheese & Pickle Twists so everyone can have their own stash and there’s no fighting over the last one.

TIME: 15 mins / YIELD: 12 TWISTS / MAKE IN ADVANCE

ingredients

METHOD

1.
Pre-heat the oven to 200°C.

Unroll the pastry onto your work surface, then cover half with the Branston pickle and cheese. Fold the other half over and press down. Brush the beaten egg over the top and sprinkle sesame seeds all over.

2.
Cut the filled pastry into strips roughly 1.5cm wide and then twist. Place onto a lined baking sheet.

3.
Bake for 15 minutes, then cool on a wire rack before serving (with lots of brown sauce!)
